Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. Its been a while since I’ve written an update. Since I got back from DR, I’ve been going and going, getting the business stabilize and out of debt that we incurred while I was in DR. That pushed found me working Christmas morning trying to wrap up a huge project (Won’t do that again) but then the new year came and everyone jumping back into work after the holidays and me feeling like “Wait, hold on, not ready for the year to start yet, but its here...”

Yesterday (March 21, 2011) I would say was the climax in my heart and I found myself soaking in God’s presence crying out for His love to bring my heart back to center. We just finished a huge conference with Legacy, Awesome breakthroughs and YC Belize is next week, another huge Push, not to mention jobs, projects personal life, just moved to a new house YIKES, Overload! God Oh how much I need your management skills. BUT I’m amazed how much God reminds me of this simple truth from Is 41:10

Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

When I sent out the song of my heart, a friend responded with this verse, If he only knew how many times God’s reminded me of this verse from when I was in DR.... Thank you God for you’re unfailing love and for you help. I also want to thank my good friend and one of my business mentor Jim Dusoe who joined me in worship by adding a refreshing piano fills to the song I sent out. Another night where I can’t sleep so decided again to worship and listen. Last night I really felt God’s presence in my home. Feel God challenging me to learn to just run to Him and place my confidence in His Character. I came across a song “Run to You” I did a while back. Prayer it’s a blessing to you as it was to me tonight.

Living with confidence in a Chaotic World by Dr. David Jeremiah

When I saw the title of the book "Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World" By Dr. David Jeremiah, I was excited and really looking forward for some insight to apply to my life & schedule in Belize. I must admit, it was a bit hard getting past the first chapter as most of the example and writing applied mainly to the United States and not so much global in my opinion. I guess in my perspective, when you say "World" it's automatically assumed the material should cross borders and cultural boundaries. With that said, It took me longer than I anticipated to get through the book.

However once I got into the meat of the material, I was able to draw some principle such as learning what it means to Stay Calm in the storms of life. I was refreshed and reminded of keys I've heard before but forgotten along the way such as focusing my connection on Christ. I find often when I'm going through my storms, It takes me a while to remember that I'm connected to Christ and not just going through alone.

In my opinion, Again, once i got past the first chapter, I was able to draw more of the meat that i can apply. If someone is looking for some keys in how to walk through the storms of life, or simply need a reminder of what they already know or hear it again from another person's point of view, this is a good book to go through.

Hey Everyone. Can’t believe 3 weeks has already gone by and I’ve learnt so much in such a short time. This week was filled with many long days and long evening. We had teaching during the day, work duties during the afternoon; we spent most of those time preparing for the upcoming conference... Then we also had homework from 8 to 9:30 every night. Our days normally start 6:30 in the morning so yea, needless to say its been intense. This past week, I had the privilege of teaching a 2 1/2 our class on Understanding Media & Marketing. I was very nervous teaching (I shy away from often) and actually spent some time researching to prepare for the class... YEA ME! LOL. But most of those research time was actually spent praying and asking God to help me focus my thoughts. I was amazed on how that session went. I learnt a lot from it and I had to take notes afterwards because some of what I shared made sense :) and I figured I should remember that. Well Tonight (Sunday) our team hosted our love feast and it was amazing. Our Theme was, “Don’t worry, Be happy.” We prayed and felt God led us to have an evening where we can just relax and be stress free after having 3 long weeks of learning as well as preparing for the YWAM Conference (Our Practicum) this coming week. For those who’s wondering what a love feast is, It’s pretty much an evening where we get to prepare a meal, decorate nice, dress up and feast together as family and friends. Those preparing the meal would hear from God on what the theme would be and build the evening around that theme.

Our team was made of Lizzy Snow (Haitian), Phil Bontrager (American) , Jason Martin (Dominican) & Myself (Belizean). We wanted a relaxing evening so we had had everyone come dressed in bright colored clothes and jeans. The came in and I spent a few minutes entertaining them with a Jamaican accent, playing a guitar and wearing a RASTA cap. I was singing, DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY.

We were going for a beach sunset scene so we had colored drinks, colored table setting and everyone assigned by seats with their names written on the banana. I shared a few scriptures about God’s heart on us not being anxious (Phil 2:4-6). Then we served them burgers, with fried plantains, pineapple, papaya. We ate to our content then played a few group games. Finally it was dessert time and we served banana splits with brownies. It was a really awesome evening of fellowship and much fun.

Prayer request:

This is our last week of class and then we start our practicum.... We need grace and speed to get all together in time for the conference.
I’m organizing the worship time for the conference and making sure that Burn 24/7 (the worship group we’ve invited to lead) and the various musicians from around YWAM mesh well in forming one team. So I’m asking God for wisdom to help serve both teams and help them unite as one. We have 2 solid days of practice.

Understanding Media & Marketing

I got the opportunity to teach a class at the University of the Nation’s CMS course on Understanding Media & Marketing and how that applies to planning our conference and events. Daniel 1:1-15

Light belongs in the darkness… It’s not becoming defiled by the darkness but bringing light & truth into the dark places – We need wisdom and understanding to do this.

God is calling us out of our “Comfort Zone.” And wants us to have understanding of how things works so we can go in and establish His Kingdom there.

It’s God’s heart for us to get involved in real life areas. Go beyond my sphere to impact the entire world.

We need to

Understand God’s heart in media.
Do it with excellence.
Verse 8 – set boundaries based on God’s truth to protect what is valuable.

Study Daniel and see it through the eyes of God’s mandate to us to infiltrate and bring His Kingdom to earth. Daniel was a man of prayer; notice how they stood up for the FAME & Glory of God.

If you read on in Daniel you’ll notice that even when faced with Death, the message of their life stood true. “WE WILL NOT DEFILE OURSELVES, WE WILL NOT BOW TO THE IDOLS OF THE WORLD”

They passed the test of fire… Literally (Daniel 3:16-18 “King, our God is able to deliver us, but even if he doesn’t, Let it be known that we will not bow or worship your idols”)

God is raising up a MEDIA ARMY and their weapons won’t be guns, swords, machine guns… The weapons will be LOVE, HUMILITY & GRACE. (Julie Myries – IHOP) This is the heart behind why I do what I do. Why I feel passionate about Media & Business.

3 Marketing Goals & things to consider b/f you start your promotion are:

Identify who is your audience
Identify where your audience is at then GO there.
Identify with your audience

What is marketing? Management process through which goods and services move from concept to the customer

We all engage with marketing & promotional tools everyday in our daily lives.

Some marketing tools are:

People & Referrals – Do a good job & people will be happy and tell others about you. Its one of your greatest assets.
Websites
Social media networks – This is free marketing. Website like Facebook, Twitter etc are social networks that host thousands of people. It’s the best place to get your information out quick for free. (Be wise how you manage your personal life on social network)
Radio Ads (Jingles)
Fliers, brochures
Billboard signs

Companies spend thousands of dollars every year on marketing their products, services.

WHY?? They’ve gotten the revelation that we need to actively engage with a material over and over using our 5 senses for it to get down into our heart. (ex, Geico, Dell).

Our Actions generate from the heart not the mind. Prov 4:23 “Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life.” The world understands this truth.

God understood how to get something into our system. Deut 6:4-9 “Listen O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength and you must commit yourself wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you. (Notice the order… Heart & soul – Internal stuff from our inner most core, then Strength – outward manifestation, action)

I believe God was outlining his marketing/ promotional tactic in how to get things from our mind to our heart (The generating center of our lives)

This is how: Repeat them again and again to your children, Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hand and where them on your forehead as reminder. Write them on your doorpost of your house and on your gates.

You’ll notice our senses are continually engaged with the product “love God & Obey his commands.

PRINCIPLES OF WEB/GRAPHIC DESIGN

Ensure that the content you deliver is of a high standard, & targeted to your audience. This applies to your blog, copy writing, online video, pictures and every form on content on your website.

Needs to draw your audience, get their attention.

Website Design

Is your information clear & do they know what to do. “Call to action”

Is your site easy to navigate. (bad example is flash sites – have to start over & over)

In regards to website, most pple don’t like to scroll so most of your important information needs to be above the fold

We live in the Caribbean, majority have low Internet speed. Nothing is worst than waiting for a site to load, so it’s good to ensure your images are at an appropriate size (5 – 15Kb)

There is something far more important when creating a website than the system that you use or the look. It’s your conversion rates and it’s a measure of how effectively the content of your website engages your website visitors. Simply put, did your site do what you need it to do….

Free Cheap Advertisement

Social media – Facebook, twitter, (popular) - A large percentage of the world uses social media… and business wants to get there b/c it’s a free way to target a wide range of people
Email Marketing – Send consistent mail out – I.e IHOP’s Onething conference does an excellent job of emailing us reminding us of the upcoming event and what to expect. It’s graphical and not texty so people can breathe as they go through it.

Marketing your product? (YWAM ministry)

How are we continually communicating our vision and mission as YWAM. Not just seeking support, or money but asking the question, “WHY DOES YWAM _______ exist” and how and I making people aware.

Often we stop at referrals but we need to go beyond. We need to see the priority of doing more, developing sites etc.

Two weeks gone already WOW!! An update is way over-due. Thank you all for keeping me in prayer & for partnering w/ me in this season. Traveling with Merv

For those who aren’t aware, I’m presently in Santiago, Dominican Republic doing a conference & event management school with YWAM. I must say I’ve learnt so much in 2 weeks. I arrived in Santo Domingo on the 8th of October & I was really nervous about immigration process because it wasn’t so clear whether or not Belizeans needed a visa to enter the country. WELL it so happen that everyone had to buy a tourist visa so yea I made it in. The first things I noticed was the heat. Imagine that... Coming from Belize you wouldn’t think something like that would be obvious but for some reason it was to me. My fellow classmate, Josiah Landis, who I met up with in Miami and I got a taxi and headed to a YWAMer’s home in Santo Domingo for the night.

On the 9th, I got on the bus to Santiago for my final leg of the trip. Those who know me knows I don’t really like bus ride that much but this one was good. I had time to reflect over the week in Tampa with the Debours as well as process some of what I felt God was showing me while traveling. For instance while traveling from Cancun to Tampa, God spoke to me through a movie and the punch line was “It’s Ok, you don’t have to fear that your foot will give way on you.” If you want the full story click on the link ( http://mervupdate.blogspot.com/2010/10/your-foot-will-give-way-on-you.html Another example of what stood out from my time in Tampa was from one of the many conversations I had with Scott & Kristin, my host... “Do I believe God is bigger and stronger than the hooks of this world & the devil?”

Finally made it to Santiago

YEAH!!! Made it safely to Santiago and got settled and jumped into class Monday. OK I need to pause here and say that after a few weeks of class, I have a new found respect for all my friends that’s still in school. I use to tell students, “Come on school is easy, wait until you start working...” but I take those words back. School is NOT easy but it is very much rewarding. Let me introduce the class. Front row: Phil, Ben, Bekah, Josiah, Merv, Next row: Glenn & Rhoda Martin, Melanie. Last Row: Matt, Lizzy & Kathy.

We spent our first week establishing foundations and how basically that all we do flows from our heart and how important it is to take care of our heart. Also we spoke a lot about boundaries and how we set boundaries to protect what is valuable. I’m not sure if its because of the season I’m in, BUT those lessons came alive to me. HEART & BOUNDARIES... So the question came up in my life, What’s valuable and how have I guarded those things. Also how REST is very much valuable and even a command from God and how I’ve not deliberately guarded that. The first week it was as if God had his surgical knife and was going into the debts of why I was sick. I renewed joy was filling my life, a joy to work with people again, a joy to serve again, a joy to get up and keep going. Off course we spent a lot of time in the two week going over practical things that needs to be in place for event planning BUT it all goes back to the foundations and making sure those are strong and in place.

Scooter, the main mode of transport

I was feeling a bit insecure back home with my little scooter that is falling apart because one it’s old (time for an upgrade) and two I’m way bigger than it. BUT here in DR, that seems to be one of the main mode of transportation. People do everything on it. I’ve seen 3 people on one small scooter, guys taking a girl on a date on a small scooter. Someone carrying a tv on it. ALSO butane tanks... But what tops all was when I saw two scooters pushing a car to jump start the car... WOW I guess if you can imagine it you can do it.

Music is cross cultural

Ok so I definitely need to learn Spanish. I’m like umm, SI, Si, No, Como estas, and people rattle off then I’m like Ummm Mi no understand Espanol LOL... Pocito pocito LOL!!!! But I’m soo glad that music doesn’t need translations. It’s cross cultural barriers and connect people. The worship team at the church needed a bass player and asked me to fill in for the weeks while I’m hear. I’m so glad that God made me to hear music and play by ear because it makes it soo easy to flow. I’ve learn a few Spanish song as well. I’m really growing to love the Latin culture. There’s soo much I never noticed before and God is just simply amazing how he makes different culture and how each expresses his heart in some way. Worshiping with the church here has been soo much fun.

Prayer Points:

God’s continual revelation to my heart in this season. We have a lot to get done in a short time and needs wisdom and stretching of time.
Belize & Hurricane Richard – God’s protection for the people of Belize as hurricane Richard pass through.
The CMS Team – unity and God’s heart
Glenn & Rhoda – They are heading up school as well as all the detail for the upcoming YWAM 50th Anniversary Conference. LOTS of work
YWAM Conference – Upcoming conference and all the details that need to come together for that.
Abortion issue in Belize & World – Believing God for break through in seeing abortion and de-valuing of life clearly and completely outlawed in Belize and throughout the world.
Financial provision – have some unforeseen expenses to cover but believing God.

Hey Guys.. How are you all doing? Some of you are aware but I’m presently in Dominican Republic doing a CMS (Conference Management School). It’s been really good and God’s been refreshing my heart more and more and also pinning me down showing me why I succeeded in areas that I did and why I failed in areas that I did.

But that’s not the purpose of this email; I want to know if you’re in or out! What do I mean? WELLL!!!!! While I’m away I’m hoping to maintain this practice of sending out periodic updates on what’s going on with me during this School, what God is teaching me and other tid bits of my journey with God and life. Your foot will give way on you...

On my travels from Cancun to Tampa, I guess a new movie ‘Just Wright” was one. I was barely paying attention to the movie as my mind was occupied with a lot more pressing issues. Some questions going through my mind were, “Was this really a good time to leave Belize? Why am I here again in this place? Why did my greatest fear overtake me?” But something about the movie caused me to watch it.

In a nutshell, this really cool talented basketball player got a major knee injury and had the potential to destroy his entire career. Everyone was convince he was done and would never play again. What made it worst, someone he really cared about rejected and abandoned him... He was in a great depression and in a place of hopelessness. Queen Latiffa (his physical therapist) really loved him and worked with him, pushed him to see the injury heal and strengthened. Finally the time came for him to get back on the court, but he played differently... He was holding back. Finally his physical therapist came and said “YOUR FOOT WON’T GIVE WAY, IT CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT IT TO DO.” Something snapped in his heart and he started to play and eventually won the game.

I pondered those words and I felt God was speaking to me through it. How could she confidently say, “Your foot won’t give way” then I realize she new the care, research and hard work she put into making sure she was doing all she could to ensure he recovered. She new the love she put into it... So off course she had the confidence to say it won’t give because I know the quality of work I’ve done.

I felt God speaking to my heart, “Merv you’re foot (figuratively) won’t give way” I love you and I’m walking you through this season. I’ll make sure your properly healed and strengthen so you can once again get back on the court and play again. BUT know that when I’m done, you’re foot won’t give way, it will do all that you want it to do and more.

As I pondered those words I felt the fear starting to melt... Thank you God for the healing work because you really really love me.

Update from Merv's Travels

To all my family, friends, supporters...Thank you for the continuous prayer and support. I can’t express how much it means to me and how much my heart is strengthened knowing that YOU believe in me & the journey God is leading me on. God has indeed bless me with awesome family & friends & I’m blessed.

I had a wonderful week in Tampa with Scott & Kristin Debour and their family. Being with their family was totally freeing. God spoke a lot to my heart, brought some more clarity to what he’s calling me to do with my life and brought more insight in how to overcome personal battles that I’ve sought Him on. EXCITING. It was a restful time as well as friendship & connection building time. The list would be too long if I wrote all that I learnt from everyone I met.

I did spend more time on the computer than I planned to try finish up a project BUT despite that, I manage to get to the beach and touch the water with my foot and burry myself with sand LOL. I also got to hang out with a good friend from Belize, Ms. Jen Murrow so it was all great.

I’m now in the Dominican Republic at Santo Domingo. I arrived last night about 7:15 & and took a 30 minutes taxi ride to Kent’s home. This house is amazing WOW WOW!! And the view from the balcony is amazing. I saw another cute bird coming by the balcony as I sat here, wrote & thought... Wondering if I should get into birding? Nah maybe not, but I am starting to have a greater appreciation for God’s creation. My all time favorite is the sunset and the view from the plain is breath taking. I’ve got to learn my camera more, and some photography basics to capture what my eyes are seeing.

About 4PM I’m bussing up to Santiago where my CMS journey begins. Please keep me in prayer in this stretch. I know my writings can be lengthy so they will be on my blog (www.mervdouglas.com) where I’ll post update with photos, videos and stories of the journey. Maybe I should have said that at the beginning to save you from reading all this ramblings LOL.

WOW WOW WOW! Thank you God

All I can say is WOW. I didn’t expect it, didn’t see it coming but God blew me away with his outrageous generosity and goodness to me. I was in need of a good amount of money for the CMS school I’m doing with YWAM and with the transitions happening in my life (Business, Job shifting etc) money was tight personally. Then a series of friends started giving $3s, $5s, $25s, $200s, $1000 and and it started to add up and before I can realize it, the money came in. WOW God. Thank you for proving Luke 12:22-32 to me.

Do Not Worry

22. Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.

23. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.

24. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!

25. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

26. Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27. "Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

28. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!

29. And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.

30. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.

31. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

I know this has been a really testing season for me and in the midst of it, God’s speaking to my heart “I love you but I also like you” has been the most powerful words that has helped to pull me out. He doesn’t just love me but He enjoys spending time with me, He really really like me. His thoughts towards me are precious... If if I were to count them, they would outnumber the sands of the sea shore. Jesus, how you feel about me has been such a great affirmation to me and I am grateful, and the icing on the cake has been your provision. Thank you for being an awesome provider, king and lover and friend.

The Journey ahead....

I’m a bit nervous and yet expectant. The past few weeks have been intense trying to get all in place before heading on this journey. Many sleepless night working, trying to finish what seems to be an endless task list; after diving in, I’m still waiting to hit the waters that would indicate some sort of movement. YET I’m 2 days away from what seems to be a shift in the course of my life’s journey... I’m thankful to see God coming through for me in ways I would never imagine or dear to even ask... Maybe its pride, shame I don’t know but when the idea of texting friends asking for a $3.00 commitment to assist me in going to Dominican Republic for further training and equipping in events & conference management, I felt all my nerves inside me cringing. Yet I felt it was a God idea and I’m amazed at the response of the friends and people God has placed in my life. Although I have a ways to go financially towards my school, I’m just amazed at the response and love from those around me. Thank you all. So I’m 2 days away from lift off and today I’ve felt sooo excited and expectant feeling like God is going to speak some amazing things to my heart. I feel I’m going to meet God in a new way I’ve never met him before... I can’t wait....

I want to share with you the next step of my journey. Starting October, I have an opportunity to take part in YWAM Conference Management Seminar (CMS), a 5 week training to prepare students to organize/host a conference, Events etc from conception to completion.

YWAM celebrates 50 years in 2010. The founders, Loren and Darlene Cunningham, will be traveling to the Dominican Republic for the YWAM Caribbean celebration in early November. My school will be working to facilitate this conference. The students will be stationed in the Dominican Republic for the entirety of the program. So it will be a practical hands on time.

At this school, I hope to gain the abilities and keys of not only learning how to facilitate a conference/event more efficiently, but also “to play a similar role to Nehemiah; to listen to the Lord, obey, strategize, resist the enemy, develop teams, find resources and work to see the breakthroughs needed for God's will to be done.” (www.ywamcas.org)

God has given me much opportunity to lead in different areas of media in the nation of Belize. I first began fumbling around at Shamax, learning as I went. Since this time, God has continued to cultivate this area in my life, as a job and ministry. I know that I’m called to influence this generation for God, not just lead them but run beside them that they may be on the front lines. Young people called to lead other young people towards their God.

I will also spend a week in the US getting exposure to youth drop in centers and various efforts to reach young people, and also cultivate environments where young people can use their gifting and talents.

Excitement

It is really excited to discover something new about oneself. Today at work, we had a challenge to overcome with one of our sites. We were talking back and forth trying to figure out what directions to take. I looked at what we had and all of a sudden the lights clicked on... an idea to try a few things. It worked! Something bubbled up inside me, a re-awakening of confidence in my heart.

As I pondered on this excitement I felt inside, I realize its been a long while since I've felt this excitement. What was it from really and how could I maintain it? OK enough suspense, the excitement came from a deep sense of satisfaction in facing a challenge and overcoming it BUT MORE, the overcoming produced a renewed sense of Confidence in my heart.

Confidence, such a powerful thing in a person's life. Webster's 1828 dictionary states Confidence is a trusting, or reliance; an assurance of mind or firm belief in the integrity, stability or veracity of another, or in the truth and reality of a fact.

I've found in my own life, when my confidence is low, there's no energy, drive, or desire to do anything. I get into the sluggish cycle. Daily dosage of confidence booster... I've decide to try build into my life daily things that boast my confidence level. Top of the list if my relationship with God. David penned it best by saying "My confidence is in You God" and on top of that i want to give myself to things that help strengthen the my confidence level.

Ok I feel like i've said confidence a lot, so let me say it one more time... CONFIDENCE. Well its pretty late and i'm telling myself i'll sleep in but we'll see.

A new season on the horizon

I was talking to a friend tonight and telling him how looking back over my life, I see clearly how God had faithfully lead me even when I was so unsure. I recall when God lead me to server on staff with Jubilee for 2 years on a volunteer basis, then he opened the door for a wonderful job that allowed me to still be involve with ministry and youth outreach. Now I'm at the verge of another transition and feeling the normal anxieties, fears, and questioning in my heart "Am I really hearing God clearly?" And yet I have to trust that God has faithfully lead me before and He won't stop leading me because my heart is set on following.

What's on my mind

I'm amazed how little I write these days so I'm taking a little moment to write down some thoughts. This year went by quickly, too quick if you ask me. I'm wanting to make a list of accomplishments and failures and I'm a bit scared to start cause I'm wondering which one will be longer :) but in truth even failures are success if we learn from them right? That's what I've been told but I'm not sure if I'm convinced LOL.

As the end of one year draws near an the dawn of a new comes, I'm pondering what this new year will look like, what I'd like to accomplish etc. I feel I'm in need of courage for this new year as my courage is on an all time low right now. All that I'm seeing is way bigger than me and I don't even know where to start. YET once I hear clearly from God I know it will bring strength to me so that's my focus right now. I need to hear from Yeshua. I'm greatful for the journey He's lead me on and now I'm at a junction of a new road and I confess fear and uncertainty surrounds me... Yet I'm willing to step forward if I know that's what He is saying.

Wow I didn’t realize keeping a blog updated can be such a time consuming thing. I thought “Yea I love writing, I can do this” well not so my friends. Well things have been interesting for me these days. I’m still here in Belize slugging it through. Not that I’m planning on going anywhere lol… I am called to make and IMPACT in my homeland Belize… A positive Impact that is so I know Belize is where God has positioned me and I’m happy with that. I’m enjoying being the host at Perkup Café for the Open Mic Night every Thursday. Various artist and poets gather and share. Some nights are packed and other nights are empty… on the empty nites the seats get to enjoy MervStar music all night LOL. But a little family is starting to build there at Open Mic with the youths and I’m encouraged to see them step out. I only hope I can continue to be a light to them.

Hmm Let me see, BC Apartments, our apartment managing business is going through a rough season but that’s normal for business right. If we don’t have the lows, we don’t really appreciate the highs. But thank God all rooms are rented out. We gotta work on some managing stuff. Its really good working with people of all different walks of life. I can feel myself growing and maturing as I do. I must confess that I’m 26 going on 40s… LOL At least that’s how I feel at times when I relate with some people my age. I feel way older at times.

So I’ve decided to bring TAS under a mother company (Still trying to come up with a name) managed by Andy (best friend/brother & Partner) & myself. Our vision is to have one company with children business. TAS is in the beginning stage and like Andy reminded me today, You don’t plant a seed and digg it up everyday to see how its doing.

Wow I’m writing more than I thought but I guess that’s good. So my blog might start to take on a new face and direction… I’ll write more journalistic I guess. Thanks world for listening to my ramblings and if you ever want to contact me, feel free.

I reluctantly entered this competition and felt insecure about it but finally did last minute. Looking back now I’m glad I entered because as I listen to the other songs that were entered, I realized the song I submitted brought a message of light, and truth to Belize. As a Kid September celebration was fun, all about the energy of bands celebrating Belize as a good country. It has now become a raw party & carousing time. HOWEVER, this can change and music is a powerful tool to help see that change come about. I’d like to thank all those who’s voted for me already and those who are supporting and praying for me… I’m in new territory and needs God’s wisdom and Grace more than ever.

Just realize its been a week since I’ve written. Tonight we met at the church for a corporate time of fasting and prayer and I finally just said to everyone that I didn’t want to be around anyone… what a way to say that eh. But as I was talking I was trembling and barely got the words out, was a weird experience but some of the guys gathered around me and prayed for me.

Nothing really happened but when I started to pray out “God I really really want you” something broke in my heart and I started to weep and I found myself crying out to God and asking Him if he still wanted me cause I had nothing to give… all that’s left is just waste. At least that’s what I was feeling at that time but I felt God’s love & I started to thank him for his love.

I feel like I’ve been stripped down to nothing and it’s still hard to think God loves me still and yet I’m embracing the truth that He does. Well didn’t plan to write all that but that’s what’s going on with me in a nutshell I guess.

So Life has it's ups and down but I'm soo excited about what God is doing in my life. As many of you know, I've purchased land... YUPEEE!!! that's a major hurdle crossed. And I'm in the process of completely clearing that land and building my home. Well August is almost up and this month was filled with a number of different events.

Momentum Youths
Every Friday the youths head down to PERKUP in Belmopan to hang out and build stronger friendships and familiness amongst each other. The guys often take their laptops and huddle on a table while playing Halo. The girls watch and comment on the brainless guys playing games and often they read books from the cafe. It's fun and yet challenging at times.

This last sunday we had a sports day at YWAM Belize. Many of the youths head back to school so we decided to spend our last day of summer sweating. LOL

Batman - The Dark Night
On August 2nd, a few of us guys put our moneys together, borrow a van and headed up to Princess theater in Belize City to watch the new Batman movie "The Dark Night." I must say it was worth the trip and the movie was over the edge. For those who saw the movie knows what I'm talking about. I also was able to draw a number of spiritual annalysis from the movie which is always good. For instance how the goal wasn't so much destruction but the go after Harvy, who was the greatest agent of change.

Life at Work
Life at work has been good. I have good boss and I thank God for his favor in this area. So one of the high point of the month was on the 7th when power went out for a while. Heitha (my boss) pulled out this game called "Set" and I guess it was fun watching my brain freeze. I couldn't find anything. Their 5 year daughter was beating me seriously and i was trying so hard. So if I ever needed a self-worth encouragement :) that wasn't the day.

So after years of dreaming, saving and planning I'm finally a land owner. By the grace of God, i was able to purchase land in Roaring Creek village. It was an interesting/ learning experience for me. I started out into a contract that went bad... which left me really discourage and close to the point of depression :) however, after literally crying my eyes out to God, he gave me a scripture from Ps 24 to hold on to. a few months after that bad deal, the doors open up for another, and I must say better opportunity. I moved forward and within a months time, I was able to secure the land. Thank you God. I'll write more about this another time, just wanted to keep you guys update.

Hi I Everyone,
I know that truly many have wondered "What's up with Merv?" Yes, I'm still on the planet but with all I'm trying to juggle, I've failed to keep up with communication. I'm so sorry! I've been exploring the every demanding world of work & business. As many of you know, I'm no longer in full time volunteer service with Jubilee (That season came to a close in March of 07) and for the past year, I've been holding down a day to day job with WSI Belize Web Design. It's been a desire of mine to develop websites and with this job, I'm finding where I fit in the web development world. I'm also exploring other possibilities of having my own business which I'm doing on the side at the moment (mainly on my free time). I do mainly graphic designing & audio production type work. Check out some of the work done & business vision by visiting TAS Portfolio blog. I've of recent started some media training as well, teaching the basic intro dynamics for Photoshop, cool edit & other useful media tools. I have 9 students which is cool. Teaching has always been one of the area I've stayed away from and now I feel the need to lean into that fear. I guess, as you can gather, all this eats up my extra time.

I was explaining to a friend recently that I'm searching for new strategy to beat the "gosh I need to respond-back to email" mountain as well as getting appropriate rest. Since I work on a computer all day, I come home & the thought of turning on a computer to email or do anything seems very exhausting. I do however want to apologize to anyone whose felt out of the loop with happenings with me. I strongly believe that communication expresses value and YES I do value all of you & my lack of communication was more me trying to adjust to new seasons of my life and NOT a statement of no value. I do try to keep my blog update but for sure I can do more work on that as well.

God's Favor w/ my Job

God has really blessed me with a wonderful job that's flexible enough for me to still be involve with youth ministry work mainly with Momentum (Jubilee's youth group) and Legacy Youth Ministries. I'll write more about Momentum & Legacy in another email.

If someone would have told me years ago I'd be doing what I'm doing, I wouldn't have believed them, but God is soo cool in how he leads us. I think God smiles in delight and have a blast when he watches me trying sooo hard to make the right moves, calculating and making sure my decisions are in line with what He wants. I remembered the weeks & weeks of praying through and pondering in my heart if I should keep my job or do something different. I took my 2 weeks vacation time and went up to Phoenix to serve for a couple weeks with Extreme Prophetic knowing that many times God speaks to me while doing some kind of volunteer service work.

The time up in Phoenix turned out different than how I envisioned in my mind but all in all it was wonderful. I learnt sooo much and RESTED. I got to sit in a video training course for a week, did some prophetic street evangelism and saw how God can use normal people to do really cool great extraordinary things when they love him and obey him. God really used the time to help me address a lot of my insecurities as well as glean much wisdom for business, management & working with different people. And yes! I believe God spoke to my heart to stay on with my Job for another year.

While in Phoenix, I saw that I was really favored by God and this job was where he had me. Many young people would give a lot to have the job set up I have, get the pay I'm getting plus have the freedom to do more stuff on the side. I thought about Daniel in Babylon & Joseph in Egypt and how both men were favored by God & I felt I had the same opportunity before me. So I made the decision to stay on with my job in obedience to what I believe God was leading me. Don't be fooled in thinking that there's no challenges, and my biggest one is getting proper rest and not getting so busy that I neglect the few things that's most important in life.

I Recently got a raise at work; God is faithful. I was pondering on asking for a raise and before I got a chance to ask for the raise, my boss approached me and told me they're giving me a raise and guess what? The amount they offered me for the raise was around what I was thinking in my mind of asking for. I've had several experience like this recently where I think of something or asking for something and before I can do it or ask, it comes together.

God's Favor w/ good Friends

God has also surrounded me with wonderful friends and truly I'm privilege to have access to what many of us long for which is a family of friends that will to love us through the hardest seasons of our lives and Also give us a KICK IN THE BUTT when we need it. Friends in which you can be real and be who God has created you to be. They help pull out the best in you and challenge you when you are stepping out of God's will. I recently got a "kick in the butt" type correction from a friend and truly Hebrews was right in saying that No correction is enjoyable but if we're trained by it, we reap the pleasing fruits. I confessed that I resisted it at first because of my pride and feelings of pain from the sting :) but God worked on my heart to show me my error. I was 100% wrong and my only response should have been and needs to be, I"M SORRY and I need/will change by God's grace.

Well for the sake of your reading, I'll cut things short here and write more on my next update. But I do want to thank all those who has prayed for me during this time. I can't even begin to express how much I appreciate that. God's love is for real and it reaches down into the darkness pits to pull us out. I heard Wes Martin from IHOP - Kansas City quote this "God is the great diver who will dive to the greatest depths to rescue us." I've experience this from God time to time in my life and my prayer has been of recent, "Help me to see you more & rightly relate to You God." He truly deserve more than I'm giving him...

Prayer Request

Greater Passion & love for God - I know this means more test an opportunity to choose rightly so I guess I'm asking that God would strengthen my heart to help me choose rightly & quickly.

Favor with the bank - I'm in the process of applying for a loan from the bank to purchase & build a little starter cottage for myself. I go in Monday for a bank interview.

Breakthrough with the youths - We so long to see God do a deep work within the hearts of the youths within Momentum. Many of them are hitting walls in their lives and need to see God for themselves, personal encounter that would awaken desire for God within their heart. I know God's doing it though, today in worship I notice several of them pressing in to engage their heart in worship. YAY GOD! That's a big step

My personal battles - They're areas of my own life that I'm still warring against for greater victory.

Be more free from fear of man and fear on a whole
Needing to be more bold and courageous
Stronger purity in my life
Guarding my heart & know what's going on in there.

First Media Classe

The first Media Class went well... I was really nervous at first because teaching isn't one of my strengths :). A total of 10 people signed up... 7 students showed up and 3 more communicated that they are attending next week.

The first class was mainly orientation and installation of the programs. We started a bit late because a few of the students had to travel from far distance. I was really amazed with the turn out and diversity of people there. People from various section of the community attended.

So I'm trying to get back into writing so hopefully other update will be more descriptive and informative.

The course is approximately 2 months long and will introduce you to the world of Photoshop, Cool Edit, Macromedia Web Site Designer & other various media tools. The course is designed to be hands-on, visual, LEARN AS YOU DO, interactive type class. Mervin's computer will be hooked up to a projector giving visual step by step examples for each lesson.

Topics will include:

Designing for Print, Web and/or Newsletter in Photoshop
Knowing the difference in designing for Print or web.
How to prepare (compress/optimize) a photo for emails, web use
How to record & edit a audio for radio ad, teaching, or personal use
Proper use of effects when working with audio
How to layout your newsletter
And much much more...

Each student is required to bring a laptop (preferable your own) to class
All Applications (programs) needed for course will be provided.
Each class will build on the previous one therefore you must attend all classes.
There will be 4 two hour long classes for the month.

I find it really interesting how a simple thing like keeping my blog updated can become a time consuming spread out process. Ok I'll try to recap some of what's going on with my life.

Coming back to Belize after 2 weeks of vacation had some surprises for me. I got home really late from the airport because our flight from Houston to Belize was delayed for 2 hours... which most of that time was spent sitting on the plane reading 'The Oath' from one of my favorite author, Frank Peretti. I'm collecting his books so if anyone want to buy a gift for me, you know what to buy. I have The Oath, Monster, This Present Darkness, Visitation, & Prophet." enough on that side note!
All in all though all turned out well. (pause)

Ok I started writing this yesterday and had to stop and now I've lost my trend of thought So I guess I'll just start a new trend :) here. So today is Valentine's day and I can't help but think about God's love and how much I desperately want to grow in love for him. That's my one goal for this year; to look back over 2008 and say with all honesty that I've grown in love for God. I'm learning more and more that means loves test. So I'm trying to view every temptation, challenge frustration as an opportunity to grow in love. I've even prayed out more "Father, thank you for this opportunity to grow in love, and with Your help, I choose love." It's helped sooo much along with laying hands on my head and praying out "I receive the finish work of the cross." When I pray that, I think about what all the cross of Christ signifies and what he paid for. Well I gotta get to some work so I'll bring this to a close and I'll probably write more specific in part 2.

Up in Phoenix

Its been a busy 'get go' for the new year, however, it all pays off times like these when I'm sitting in the airport waiting to board my flight and take a break out of Belize. Yes I love my country tons and don't see myself living anywhere else (unless God speak clear clear clear and write it in the skies), but there are times to pause and get a refresh outside look on things.

For those who are not aware, I'm leaving Belize for 2 1/2 weeks for conference (4 days long) and vacation/learning time. So I'll be gone from today 16th - 31st of Jan. So please be praying for me

OK So I arrived in Phoneix SAFE & sound but lost my deodorant & lotion while checking in. The security guys said it was too big. I was shocked, I thought a bit extreme :) I'll probably have to smell bad a few days (smiles) nah I'll just buy some up here.

As I thought about goals for this new year, I realize that there's only what that I want to pursue, and that is "To grow in love for Jesus." God's been faithful and His love is winning over in my heart and I'm soo happy about that. This morning I woke up praying and had a song on my heart talking about His unfailing love.

Well I'm off the day, the flight to Phoenix was long but good, met some interesting people on the plane.

Hey Guys

Just wanted you all to know that I won't be updating my blog or being on top of personal emails/correspondence for a while (a month give or take). I'm in a season of evaluation & re-aligning and need to pause somethings to really give time for other areas of my life that need to change/grow. Those around me know that I've been talking a lot about needing to focus and knowing what God is really calling me to, not shutting down in times when I need to take action etc. There's also areas of personal breakthrough that I'm fighting (wanting to fight) for as well... I'm believing God for wisdom, direction & His Grace... Please do keep me in prayer and love you all tons.

Operation Belize Mercy: Hurricane Relief post Dean

A team of us were up in Corozal (Nothern part of Belize) assisting with Relief work. Belize didn't get a direct hit but just the effects of the wind and some thunderstorm left many families in the villages homeless and roofless. So Like i said, only the northern section of our country & the cayes experienced effects of the hurricane. We went up there to help them... There was no power or running water for and entire week... I've Please pray for the many families that are without homes. Also the families that lost crops which were there source of income.

This is a new section to my newsletter... I've been thinking a lot and question God but its like music, media stuff is built into my DNA. God wired me that way and I'm still at a lost to how he fully wants me to express and serve him this way but gotta start somewhere right. I'm presently finishing up a cd project for a friend Omar Petillo - AKA Da MessNjah. We've been working on this project for over a year now (all those music people are probably thinking, Wow get everything right and perfect... Well not exactly the case.) Working in the studio has been a "when you get a chance" type of things and so yeah, that's the reason the project took so long. However, Yes the songs are filled with truth, God's truth and I must add this - I can say all those who purchase a copy when its release - Omar's a man that doesn't just sing songs; his life back it up and that's what God's looking for right.

Some personal thoughts about the media industry: So I'm not much of a news person but during the legacy conference, I found myself on a news site checking up some various stats and I was really broken in my heart to hear of what's going on with Lindsey Lohan... She's 21, just got of rehab and arrested again for possession of crack. How many artist have you seen this happen to; Britney Spears, NSync, Backstreet Boyz, Witney Houston... You can name them off. That's what the system of the world is doing - grabbing young talented kids, suck them dry and spit them out at a very young age. AND YES THE AGE WHEN THEY ARE BEING SPITTED OUT IS NARROWING DOWN.

I know a lot of young people in Belize has a drawing towards music and getting on a cd, doing a recording etc. I've been approach by many. But I want to say to you guys, how much is your soul worth to you??? Do you really want to go about it the way the world does? Yes its the quicker way but as you can see, you get in quick and you get out quick as well - and normally when you get out, you come out empty handed having lost everything that really mattered in life.

I often wonder why I don't have a cd out there; I write songs, produce music and even have access to a recording studio... And without any pride, I know some of the songs I've written would be impacting and are good. But I don't just want to be another artist ( in truth I don't think I even want to be an artist), I really don't want to perform and I surely don't want to loose the most important things in life. Instead, I want my life to count for God, to be firm peg for Him. So that means slower for me, it means allowing God to deal with the deep issues of my heart... Areas of pride, areas of lust, areas of fears and insecurities, areas of my identity and worth being in Him and not what I do...but I guess the main thing is being confident in God's love towards me.

Merv's pursue of Land

Many of you might be aware that I've been trying to secure land in Belize for a while. For a Belizean you would think the process would be easier :) anyways not so. God has been teaching me to rely on Him and learning how to NOT worry. He reminded me about the birds and animals how he takes care of them and I'm much more valuable than they are.

So Yes I'm still going to pursue land because that's right but by the grace of God, I won't let it stress me out. I tend to be someone who thinks a lot and plan (sometimes over plan and not move) and so things can become burdensome in my mind. This God is also working on in my heart. Legacy July Conference - '07

The Legacy conference was two weeks ago and it felt like a long time ago. The conference was a major success in many ways. God is laying deeper foundations in the heart of the youths of Belize. Youths from all around Belize gathered at YWAM Belize for a week of worship, fellowship and receiving truth that would empower them to walk differently in this era of life.

Larry Allen from Tyler Texas - YWAM School of the Bible - came and shared about the nature of God. For me the greatest truth that stood out was "Love is not an emotion, its a choice. God command us to Love... You can't command an emotion so if God in his intellegence and wisdom gives us a command, its obvious that is a choice. And as we make that choice, the emotions come behind to follow behind that choice." How awesome because that means that God chose to love me first. I saw the picture of a truck...the choice being the small front stairing and the emotion being the huge trailer at back. Emotions can't lead your life... its choices base on truth - God's truth. But imagine this, If the choice is the small section at the front, and God already choose, think about the massive amount of emotion coming behind God's choice. And its all heading towards me... He burns with passion and love for me. Anyway, I don't comprehend it fully but I want to.

God is teaching me a lot about worship as one of the guys who serve the worship trust for Legacy and I'm humbled as God is using my life to serve/lead an awesome generation of leaders and worshippers before God. One of the night, I walked around the building crying saying, God, I don't know how to lead these youths. All of them are leaders, all of them will change the nation for You. Rebecca Stirm (worship leaders & guitarist) stepped up this conference in areas of worship leading. We had Phillip Valencia on bass and he stepped up in singing as well. I realy love that dude. Pablo Gongora was on electric guitar adding a nice flavor to the worship. Brian Almendarez was on drums and head up the music section. Patty George was on Keyboards and Andy Lin who served in every area but mainly sound engineering. Can't forgot the worship team intercessors Brenda & Ada Bricenio.

Pivotal point in my Life...

Everything hit the ceiling at age 18, I violated several close relationship and the one person I look to for spiritual input walked away from me. That's when I realize that my life in Dangriga was over. After all I was working in Belmopan already and it would be cheaper to live there instead of commuting to and from work every day. So that was the beginning of my journey to get serious for God.

Several months had passed and I found myself in a circle of men/ women who were different Not like what I've been accustom to. These guys wanted more than the normal "Christian religious" life They wanted to know God in such a way that changed not just their words, but their lives. I was drawn to this. So it happened, on a Sunday night. I came into the church and took my usual seat at the back hiding in the darkness so no one would notice me. Everyone was in deep worship and they were singing a song that called to me. The words resound in my ear "I have made you too small in my eyes, Oh Lord, forgive me." I was broken in my heart and at that point; I decided to pursue God no matter what. I wanted to know that Big God, that wonderful God. The journey ahead would be filled with hills and jagged roads but it was a road I chose to take. My new found path in Jubilee Ministries Belize would be a road towards God 's Fatherly heart of Love.

Ok so I'm trying to capture my experience in Chicago and Wisconsin, but at the moment I'm short of words. I guess I'll give points and ramble as I go along. Andy (my best friend) and I left Belize on the 1th of may and headed to Chicago. We stayed with my aunt for Two days
Highlights of Chicago: I enjoyed the time with my aunt Julie. She is wonderful! I really enjoy talking with her... She understands me which is totally cool. She gave me a piano, I just have to figure out how to get it to Belize. I enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart as well, I'm amazed how much you can get for so little. OK, this is my thing, but every time I go to Wal-Mart, I buy what I called a disposable tennis for $9.00. I Promised myself when I went up to the US, I wouldn't put on weight, but sad to say, I put on some weight with all the different things to eat. So on the 14th, we jumped on the greyhound bus and headed to Green Bay. Gosh, that was a long long bus ride. I really don't like long bus rides, I get headache. I hate sitting in one spot for too long.

Highlights of Green Bay: I must say that one of the highlights at Green Bay was Aunt Sue's house... it was the nicest house I've been to... Swimming pool, food, drinks, games, Smallville, space, space and more space. I felt welcomed and comfortable. Alyssa's family opened up their arms to us. I felt very much with family. Oh yeah, the main reason for the trip was to be there for Omar and Alyssa Myrie as they step into the awesome new phase of marriage. The wedding was really special. Ok, I'm not a big detail guy on weddings, but I dance for the first time at the reception... Let me re-phrase that, I waltz for the first time. It was different but good.

Well I know those who knows me are probably wondering why I'm writing sooo little, but I'm honestly tired and I guess don't have a lot to say right now... but I'll close with this, Traveling with Andy my closest friend was a blast and I enjoy that soo much. We've been to a number of places together, in a way, we're having an extended road trip piece at a time.

Whatever you are going through, whatever is presenting itself to you daily to wear you down, frustrate you, weaken you... Let it drive you to Jesus.

Hebrews 4: 14-16
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

So awesome, he went through the test/temptation and didn't give in, that means he knows how to conquer, he knows how to help conquer and not give in. truly let us do like what it says in Matthew 11:28-29 " Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS."

Want you guys to know that we all love you dearly and we're praying for you. Don't give in to the lies of the enemy... I'm setting my heart to fight through. Yest it's been challenging, I've been test, failed some, passed some but over-all I'm fighting for greater intimacy and the reality of Col 1:9-12 & Ephesians 1:16-20

Fu Real Down to earth Jesus

God is soooo awesome, His grace is for real and His leading is for real... So I want to share with you about a real cool thing that happened last week Saturday.

"Set your mind on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father. Set your affections on things above and not on things below" Col 3:1-2 has been the scripture mulling in my heart last week. It's amazing how much we don't set our minds on God and how much we choose to satisfy the cravings and longing of our heart with temporal satisfaction. That's kinda my life story, settling for the temporal while Father God is calling me to the eternal. Anyways, I started to experience a new sense of boldness but I never really paid much attention to it... HOWEVER, SAT April 21st was too obvious to ignore.

I got on the bus and saw a friend... The bus stop and another former classmate got on the bus... We started to chat, and before I realized it, we were talking about what our perception of God . One guy shared his views and I boldly told him "your perception of God the same as your perception of your father." He looked at me and smiled and at first rebutted the statement. I then asked him, "What's your dad like?" He shared that his dad was in the house but never there... didn't talk to him, kinda absent although he's present. I then asked him, "deep down inside, what do you really think God is like?" he shared the same thing.

I was able to share with my friends about the father's heart of God. I shared about how Real God is and how he's not like what we've heard about through traditional means. We talked for 30 minutes on the bus and as I shared with him, he started to melt. we arrived at our destination and he we were like what's next. I challenged him to go and ask talk to God and say these words "God if you are for real and if you are like what I've heard, reveal yourself to me." I know God will do it and I'm praying for this friend.

Prayer Alert

By now, most of us are aware of the horror that, for three hours, roared up from the bowels of hell and flooded the campus of Virginia Tech University. Forgive me for telling this like it is, but the murderer was not merely "troubled," he was demon-possessed. Cho Seung-Hui, murdered thirty-two students and faculty, then turned his gun toward his own face and pulled the trigger. Students that survived the attack reported hearing, at one point, Cho Seung-Hui laughing maniacally as he shot his victims in cold blood.

There are many appalling consequences of his actions, but the one I want to us to particularly pay attention to is that there is often a "copycat" element in these kind of things. As grotesque as the darkness was that lived in Cho Seung-Hui, he is not a "one-of-a-kind" human. There are probably hundreds, if not thousands, of people in America who are similarly demonized.

These are individuals who usually live in isolation and hatred. They are so deeply entrenched in spiritual darkness, they do not know how to climb out. While these tormented people might look and appear almost normal, their thoughts are the mutterings of demons. Seeing the chaos Cho Seung-Hui spawned, these crazed people carry a demonic impulse: they desire to kill more people than he did. The voices, inwardly compelling them, whisper they have nothing to lose. In fact, they are convinced their crimes will make them famous.

Some of you think I'm exaggerating or over reacting. I'm not. I'm simply asking we take a strong prayer initiative against a demonic multiplication of this horror. Did you know that by Tuesday, the day after the Virginia Tech massacre, threats had already occurred in many places? Forced "lock-downs and evacuations at universities, high schools and middle schools [have occurred] in at least 10 states on Tuesday," according to the Associated Press.

The report continued, "Threats in Louisiana, Montana and Washington state directly mentioned the massacre in Virginia, while others were reports of suspicious activity in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Dakota, South Dakota and Michigan. In Louisiana, parents picked up hundreds of students from Bogalusa's high school and middle school amid reports that a man had been arrested Tuesday morning for threatening a mass killing in a note that alluded to the murders at Virginia Tech" ( My Way News - Threats Rattle Schools in 10 States).

Of course, not everyone who calls in a threat is intent on fulfilling it. Some people think it is "funny" to cause disruption. However, we need to increase our intercession, especially that these copycat atrocities would not occur. We need to pray that sick, demonized people will find Christ and get help. We also need to be discerning. If someone you know begins ranting that "things are going to change" or "you'll see," tell the police immediately. Indeed, let's us especially pray for the police, and all who are in authority, that plans conceived in hell will not be fulfilled on earth.

Finally, let us not be passive. Rather, let us stand before God for our communities. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord promises to raise up a standard. Let us, therefore, stand up. Let's not only pray that God will thwart any further copycat acts of violence, but that He'll use what has occurred to bring our nation back to Him.

Easter by the Creek

The Easter Holiday went by quickly but it was amazingly fun and different. For those who don't know, I broke my foot on Easter Sunday in 2003 and every since, I've been really overly cautious on that day. Well this weekend I stepped out of that mold and conquered several fears.

Our Church family - Jubilee went a three day camp-out... Friday to Sunday. I straggled in late SAT morning at the camp site because the weather wasn't looking promising the previous day & I really didn't want to get rained out... didn't rain - thank God! I got there, set up my tent and went down by the creek... Then it began, the pressure from the youths taunting me to swing off this (in my perspective) very high swing and jump off into the water - Talk about a heart attack!!!

First I resisted - then Nathan firstly got me to jump off the diving (home made version) board into the water... I tried that twice it was OK... I then practiced my swimming - did i mention i have a fob ea of water. Well I mastered the swimming some. So it came of the swing... I got up there... said my last prayers - told my friends to give all my stuff to my family & kids - then I realized I didn't have any. (LOL) OK off I went - my heart raced and I did it...

Well After the initial adrenaline rush, I went back and again i did it... I swung off that thing for maybe 20 or 30 times... I was surprised cause it was fun. Today I'm sitting with a headache and soar muscles from all the over stimulus... But it was worth it.

God is awesome and fun, don't you think. Well for friends family or whoever is reading this, keep me in your prayers as I continue to fight through and conquer different fears in my life.

On April 2nd I officially transition backed into the working world. I'm working a 8-5 job with a website company called WSI. I felt a release from God to make this transition from mission with Jubilee Ministries (my 2 year commitment came to a close ending of March) & back into the working arena as prep towards the future. My 24th Birthday

So Friday, March 16th was my 24th Birthday... Gosh I can't believe I'm 24 now. Crazy... Well I had a series of parties and festivities for my birthday which was really cool. Ainley took me to Cayo to hang out with some friends. That was a different experience for me... we had no agenda, No plans... that's not me Guys, but I must admit we had tons of fun. We me Brian, Drummer from Rose of Sheron and also drummer for LYM Worship team who took us around. we then met Rebecca (My pastor's daughter) who was up that side for band practice... She's the lead singer in Rose of Sheron and also sings on the worship team for Legacy. Anyways, we all connected and went to pablo's house and tons of people just gathered there... like a reuneon or something. I jumped on Pablo's computer to fix it's problem... only to discover 30,000 virus on his computer... That's a record breaker for me. We left Cayo 5:30 and headed to Andy (my best closest friend) house for a birthday party in Betty (Andy sis) and my honor... So party again. we laughed, ate pizza, watched a good movie and had fun fun fun. I got home 11:30PM.

Repentance & Realignment

Legacy Youth Ministries (LYM) - A ministry out of Youth With a Mission Belize is hosting it's youth conference this coming weekend - March 9th to 12th. - LYM is a network of youth leaders from around Belize who has come together wanting to see God radically impact the heart and lives of young Belizeans. We are desiring to see a generation rise up and fulfill their God given destiny.

The theme for this conference is Repentance & Realignment. Please pray for the youths of Belize & for the conference. We're desiring to see the youths encounter God in a greater way. This morning I was thinking about a word i heard at IHOP - Energize and what came to my heart was when a car battery is dead, it needs a outside source greater to energize that battery and stir life back in it... That's what we're believing God to do in the hearts of the Youths for this conference.

I - Mervin Budram Jr - am apart of the Leadership team for Legacy. I'm serving on the worship team as well as logistical team. Please pray for me, I normally come under tremendous spiritual warfare during this time and I'm believing God for His Grace to rise above and be and accomplish all in His mind.

Vision Unfolding

What Vision have God given me for my life? That's a question that I feel I can only answer in part because I'm still searching that out. Three years ago I felt God gave me a 5 year plan which is do DTS, enroll in school and give myself to learning because at age 25, he would release a load unto my life. What that load is? I really don't know. What I'll be doing with the rest of my life, I really don't know It's just one of those things that I have to walk out step by step

So yes, DTS Check! Enroll in school different from what I thought but yes, check! How? You might ponder, don't worry I ponder on this as well but here's my readout on it. The School of God, a road of brokenness, a road filled with "pits" similar to those in a car race. Often I have to pull the car off the road and change a tire, overhaul the engine, even change some parts. Why? Why? I can only state the obvious The race ahead is going to be long, hard but good.

What are His plans for my life? People often say great things, big things; as for me, I really don't know; but I hope they are right. I want to do soooo much, can do sooo much, how does it all pan out? Yet God is unfolding it to me. I believe I'm called to work with youth, as well as be apart of those that brings change to our nation Belize. I guess the strongest thing in my vision is my family. I believe God will use my family as a channel of His Grace.

"Children are an heritage of the LORD... As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth." Ps 127:3,4

"Thy children like olive plants round about thy table..." Ps. 128:3

On Behalf of Momentum (formerly JJBoyz & JJGalz) youths & Staff (Mrs. Cheryl Stirm, Melissa Warren, Alyssa Tielens, Andy Lin & Mervin Budram Jr,) I want to wish you a prosperous God centered new year. Thank you for praying for us and standing with us through this past year. Looking back over the journey &amp;amp; ground gained, I'm filled with excitement; as I look to the new year I'm placing my confidence in God's stability, faithfulness & promise to instruct us in the way we should go. Nice words to say but we've had to learn to hold on to these truth as the reality of being relevant and meeting the young people where they are at came to the surface. I was reminded yesterday that Jesus had 12 disciples, which meant 12 different individuals with diverse likes and dislike, personalities, love language, strengths and weakness; yet He managed to touch each of them in a personal unique way... They all felt & knew they were LOVED. "Jesus we have so much to learn from you!" We have scene steps of growth and maturity in our youths... Our heart is to help walk them through the teenage years while serving them as they embrace more of God's values as their own.

Earlier in November, God started to stir in our hearts that the two areas young people are being heavily attack in is the area of rebellion & sexual purity. Why? Well the devil knows these areas give authority & strength to conquer and have a strong footing in penetrating the sphere of life. Jesus had great authority because he was greatly submitted to the father... He said, "I do nothing without the father." Also, which have more power and will get the job done quicker; concentrated pure acid, or watered down impure acid??? That is what Satan is after, our authority (Character, Obedience, God's Anointing - heart issue) and our strength and power to make covenant. We took 5 weeks to exhort and teach on these two areas and the power of submission and purity... two of the statement that stood out to me from that teaching time are: "In a crowd where majority is sleeping around and messing around, a young person who decide to take a stand will naturally rise above without doing anything spectacular... You stand out" & "Authority comes from living it"

For the 6th week, God placed the scripture from Malachi on our hearts; "I will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and vice versa"

We felt that the hearts of the fathers have turn towards the kids to a great deal but the hearts of the kids haven't turned towards the father, hence the rebellion, disrespect, disinterest... So we felt we wanted to help our youths fulfill the other side of that requirement...

On the 28th of December, Momentum youths asked all the parents and leaders of the church to come together to hear a message they wanted to say to them... The message was simple & to the point. "Thank you for sacrificing and serving us, for fashioning us, for correcting us. Thank you for placing value on us and we know that we have value because you gave us value. Please don't stop fashioning us"

As we step forward in planning and preparing for this time, God showed us more...

Psalm 128:3 says that children are like olive shoots around a table... Mrs. Cheryl looked up olive shoots to find that in those times, the young immature olive was the most priceless and valuable... God spoke to our hearts that He places so much value on the young and what they do in their young immature years (example blessing and honoring the parents) is more valuable and powerful than we can imagine... So them stepping out to honor their parents have more power in it than we can see.
God also spoke to us from psalm 127 that kids are as arrows... and the warrior holds an arrow for only two reason, 1 to fashion and shape it (correction, confrontation, etc) and 2. shoot it forth at the enemy (releasing into destiny and to conquer).

The youths worked hard preparing for the time. We divided into a decoration, PowerPoint, food, & writing team. On the 26th, we went to Andy's house to do the pizza, Taiwanese Bowxs (not sure how to spell), On the 27th, We gathered at the church after fasting breakfast and did some decoration and rehearsal for the time. On the 28th, the parents was awed as the youths served them a three course meal (nachos, shrimp, Bowxs & pizza, desserts w/ Fruity punch)... A power point presentation was played showing pictures of all the youths as babies and following them as they grew up... The room was filled with laughter, awes, oose, wows etc. Finally, the youths gathered together and all did a formal thank you reading. I'll attach the reading at the bottom. On a personal note, I want to Thank you for supporting & praying for me as I serve the next generation of leaders. Please cover me in prayer as I step into this new year; already I believe God has said that it's going to be a year of victory but before victory comes a battle. Off the bat of my head, I can say that one of the battles I'm already facing is one of Intimacy with God and being tired and run down. Because of all that happened took place over the Christmas holidays both with the church and youths, I didn't really get a holiday and I'm feeling really crispy fried. I have this week down but it doesn't feel much of a vacation but I'm trusting God for grace and I'm planning a sleep in day. Also I believe God has called be a missionary to Belize first and then to the nations and hence in obedience to God, I'm serving God at Jubilee Ministries while believing him to provide my monthly needs whether through supporter or part time work. I presently have 2 persons supporting me financially (Thank you) and I'm believing God for an increase this year. Please pray and ask God how he wants you to team up with me as I serve Him... To priority is your prayers... I earnestly cry out for it. Also, please send me prayer request as I'm more than interested in what' going on with you...

"A heart for Widows & Orphans"

The Journey continues as I'm trying to be obedient to God's call on my life to serve my church fulltime. It's been an awesome learning and growing period for me. One of the key word God spoke to me as I stepped into this season was, "You've never been this way before and you can either trust me to take you through or try to do it your way." I've experience that reality more than once as I’m often placed in situations maybe with the youths, church logistic, personal baggage stuff surfacing, or the growing pains of life which causes me to rely heavily on God because my ”wisdom" or "understanding" is not enough. Indeed "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and He will direct your path," is TRUE.

One of the things God has done in my heart is stirring a love for kids and also for those in need. I walk on my streets and excitement rushes through my heart as the Kids shout out, "Mervin," "Mr. Mervin how was your day," "You want to play marble," "Rap something for me," "What will you do today." and many more comments. Kids are always looking to those older anyone bigger than them and what they really want is to hear words of value, worth, purpose, identity. By the grace of God, I want to be that type of guy who speaks those words to kids whether through actions or words. Our Church had an opportunity to do that with a little young orphan named Jenessa & her grandma who’s a Widow, early on in this year.

Throughout scripture you will see God’s heart towards widows and orphans. He’s mentioned it over and over for us to look out for them and care for them.

James 1:27 “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction..."

Well we had an opportunity to put that into practice earlier in September. Ms. Marion (widow) and her granddaughter Jenessa (Orphan) is now living in their newly built home. Ms. Marion once lived in an old deteriorating house in the village of Roaring Creek… She came to us expressing he concerns when her outhouse began to sink and water was flowing through the floors of her house when it would rain.
YWAM (Youth With A Mission) also heard of her condition and was moved with compassion. A team of carpenters from Michigan came down and joined forces with us and started out the two weeks task of building a new house for Ms. Marion. After hours & days of blood, Sweat and tears, we handed the keys for a brand new little house over to Ms. Marion.

INTRO

God is raising up a different generation. One who knows there God, one who understands the boundaries set by God and who walks within those boundaries. Satan is real and is daily seeking ways to execute his scheme against your life which is to steal, kill and destroy God’s purpose and destiny He’s created you for. The scripture that God has been ministering to me is “Seek the Lord while he may be found.” And that speaks volumes to me because I really believe that we are in a season where God is pouring out more of His glory, more understanding of who he is and who we are in Him which will enable us to fulfill the grate commission of discipline nations. Some awesome truths about God are: 1. God is eternal and infinite but yet so personal. 2. We are made in His image (we are image bearers) which indicates value on our part. Note that he spoke everything into existence but when it came to man (me) he took personal involvement and formed us detail by detail. I don’t know about you but this indicates how valuable I am to God. I ask the boys this Sunday in Jjboyz life group how many of them would pursue a vibrant personal relationship with and ant…. They laughed. But the truth of the matter, I believe in comparison to God and man, that’s what’s has happen. God has really humbled himself to befriend us. 3 Truth is absolute and does not change; God creates it and lives by it. This is another key foundations stone to our faith. God will never ask us to do what He Himself is not willing to do. 4. There will be a judgment day. We will give an account for every action, thought, and word while living on this earth.

Hi Guys,
I realize my introductions are getting longer and longer, but our God is so awesome and getting to know Him is an exciting venture. I must admit that at times it requires me getting out of my comfort zone and lean into areas that is hard for my flesh but God give grace as I remain humble before him. As some of you might know, I’m currently enrolled in YWAM doing a Discipleship Training School (DTS). I must admit that the first couple weeks were challenging. Going back into a school environment after being out for 3 years isn’t easy. And even now as I’m writing this I’m realizing that the true pressure of College is not being realized since we don’t have heavy emphasis on academics. But God is so cool. He knows how to do his job. I’m looking down the road and already seeing how God has truly worked all things out for the good of those who love him.

I try y best to give you all a comprehensive overview of the different transitions/ changes in my life. This newsletter will contain information about: SHAMAX PRODUCTIONS, DTS & OUTREACH LOCATIONS, LEGACY, and CD PROJECT.

SHAMAX PRODUCTIONS

I am currently no longer employed by Shamax Productions. Due to the nature of the DTS course, I needed to resign from my job. My period at Shamax was rewarding, educational well spent. It was also a character building time. I failed in some areas and succeed in some. I can’t evaluate myself so if you need and evaluation, check with my former boss Louis Wade. But please prayer for those guys. Shamax is a Christian business with a heart to see the Christian community advance forward with excellence. I love how my boss describes it, “taking money out of the world and funneling it into the kingdom.’ At least that’s how I remember him wording it.

DTS & OUTREACH

Like I mentioned in the introduction, DTS is moving on and God is revealing truths about Himself to all of us. I’ve already gone in some details in the intro about foundational stones for biblical world view, but I guess one more thing I want to add is that the fear of the lord is so key if we are to ever accomplish anything for the Lord. This story shook me yesterday when I heard it. The story of Samson; his entire life purpose was revealed before he was born. He knew what he was made for and he had all the gifting and ability to accomplish it. But he didn’t have the fear of the lord in his life and he was driven around by his lust and what he wanted verses what God had planned. He was a short tempered man. His final prayer wasn’t “God, forgive me for not obeying you” or “show yourself powerful through me so that they no that you are the one and only God” but rather it was, “give me strength so I can have revenge over my eyes.” That shook me to the core when I saw that. I’ve always known the story of Samson but I never saw it like that. The punch line is, having the gifts, ability and even knowing your call profits nothing if you don’t have the fear of God in your life. And the fear of God isn’t something that can be thought, it comes from revelations between you and God. You have to take initiative and seek God out for yourself.

Our DTS outreach will be to Grenada and Senegal (Africa). Please prayer for us as a team as God is prepping our hearts and showing himself faithful by bringing in the finances needed. For the outreach phase, we are looking at roughly $60,000.00 Bze which is broken down into $5.000.00 per person. We are believing God to come through for us. And I must add this too. I use to have judgments in my heart about the whole area of YWAM and finances. It didn’t really make sense to me the way they functioned with finances which is basically paying to serve and be a volunteer. I didn’t see the logic in it because I use to be those who love control over there income (which I still don’t think being wise about your money is a bad thing) but the bottom line is, God is our source, and that is what these guys live out. I see them as radical people who have learnt to experience God as there provider. Doesn’t mean they don’t help themselves because they do but they realize that God is the one who gives us strength and he is the one who provides for us. God has opened my eyes and I’ve repented for judgments in my heart.

LEGACY CONFERENCE

Please cover legacy Youth Ministries as we prepare for the upcoming conference in November. Tons of logistics to go through and our DTS class will also plug in with the conference to help lighten the load and also develop relationship with upcoming Belizean reformers (that is my heart). Pray for the times of impartation. We are believing God for the cycle of young people going to “camps” then go home and pick up back where they left, would be broken. Rather that these times will be life changing moments and it will be steps towards seeing Belize and the nations of the earth disciple.

CD PROJECT

I know that I’ve mentioned in my previous newsletter that I was releasing a solo project in December. I’ve decided to put the cd project on hold while in DTS. Along with that same scripture of seeking God while he may be found; I realize DTS is a special emphasis time and I don’t want to short change it by trying to juggle more than one pots at a time. So I see it as wise to press the stop button. I apologize and ask your forgiveness for getting your hopes up or stirred you emotion any way.

à I will hear clearly from God as I move forward towards purpose

Intro

“Amazing feats can be accomplished when you put all of your energy into something.” I read that from an article and it jumped out at me challenging every fiber in my body. God has great things in store for our lives but we also have a great responsibility to serve that plan with all that is in us. In Ecclesiastes 12:13 it says “that I’ve come to one conclusion and that is; to serve God and obey his commandments is the duty of every man.” Our greatest accomplishments in life come when we know that we are serving God’s dreams for us.

Hi guys, I know that the newsletter is long overdue and I must express my apologies for being late. I failed in that area and I’m sorry. I will strive to do better next time and be on time. For those who are not aware, these newsletters are bi-monthly so you should look forward to one, the ending of every other month.
For the past few months, things have been really busy for a lack of a better word. But it has been fulfilling as well. Some of the headlines for the last few months are as follows: Legacy Youth conference, Jamaica Outreach, Cd project, DTS coming up, Period and Shamax coming to a close.

Legacy Youth Conference/ Jamaica Outreach

As I had mentioned in previous newsletters, I am apart of Legacy Youth Ministries (This ministry has seen the need to network together and target the young people of this generation with principles, values and tools that will enable them to walk out their relationship with God in CONSITENCY & STABILITY) and we had our first conference in June and it was a success. Many young period received impartation of truth from God’s word and from the lives of fathers of the faith. In July, I went to Jamaica for a week and a half on an outreach with Legacy. The experience was life changing. God really awaken me to the authority that we hold as citizens of His kingdom and also the authority we hold as sons of Belize. We carry a unique authority because this is our home. The example that God revealed to me was that in a home, the husband/ father, with the simplest of prayer cause angels to stand at attention because he is within one of the most sacred place before God which is marriage and parenting. And he is the strongman at the home. God was just basically placing a burden for Belize on my heart, and he was helping me to understand the level of authority I have in my land because this is MY LAND. My illustration might sound somewhat confusing but I’m still in process and study of this area. On a whole, the trip shifted some stuff in my heart and how I view my nation. It was worth all that was invested into it.

Cd Project

I strongly believe in purpose and everything I do must be seasoned with purpose. A lot of my friends question me wondering why I didn’t produce a musical album being that I worked at a recording studio. Well my answer to that was always the same, NO PURPOSE, I refuse to do a musical album just say I’ve accomplish something or to entertain or to compete with what is out there. The only way I would work on an album is if God leads me in that direction. Well through many numerous confirmations, I believe that God has called me to “Echo Out” what he has revealed to me. And music is the tool I feel led to use. I’m presently in the process of putting together a musical album where the music and lyrics are composed by inspiration of the Holy Spirit and where the focus is on character rather than talent. Yes Excellence is apart of the Kingdom of God, but what I believe God is looking for more than excellence in presentation of the music, is excellence in the presentation of the individual’s character and integrity when the music is done. Taken this into account, I felt lead of the lord not to release any music/song until I bring myself under accountability submission and proper covering. I’m still in this process hence the release date for the cd is unsure but God is in control. The themes of the album are firstly Worship, Salvation, and Accuracy of living before God. The name of the album will be “By your side” and it will consist of mostly reggae, dance hall and RnB. Someone once told me that I’m not a performer, and I must agree with that person, I don’t view myself as or will strive to be a performer. My heart is that God leads. If during a ministry time he wants me to be quiet and just let the music ministers I want that freedom and humility to say “Yes lord, this is about you and not me.” But enough on that for now. I will be going by the name of Supa-Pro Mervo (a name my cousin constantly call me) on the album which kinda reveals what my goals are. I more interested in producing but that will come in time if God wills. Please pray that I stay within the centre of God’s will for my life and that his exact plans for me will come to pass as I choose rightly and follow his leading.

DTS Coming Soon...

DTS is drawing near and God has been faithful to me. I’m excited and honestly a little nervous. I just checked my financial budget and after paying off some bills and other expenses I had, I was shock to find that I’m definitely in a place where I need God to come through big for me. But that is ok, God always take care of his own so I’m choosing not to worry but rather walk in faith. I won’t say much more along this line only that, Please pray for the students who will be taking DTS. This will be a changing period for us and Satan knows that and won’t take it sitting down. But greater is he who is in us than the liar of this world.

Period at Shamax Coming to a close

On final note, my time at Shamax Production is rapidly coming to a close. For the past 2 ½ years, I’ve been working and serving Louis Wade Jr. My experience at Shamax has been life changing and also a developing period. The environment created has enabled me to mature spiritually and also as a professional. The ending of August I will be saying my goodbyes to the staff at Shamax, but if it’s God’s will, It won’t be my final goodbye cause I will be back. Please keep Shamax Production in prayers as it is going through some transitional period. Please especially cover Louis Wade as the point man that he will keep site of the vision at hand. What if

I picked up an article sent to me by a dear friend. At first I didn’t read the title of the article but my eyes glanced on the first paragraph. I was stricken to the heart as I meditated on the words that jumped out at me. The only thing that came to mind was, “what if?” Indeed, What if Moses’ mother didn’t hide her son, What if Jesus’ mother didn’t agree to go through what could have been the most humiliating period of her life. These were points that jumped out at me as I read.

The following morning, the thought rushed right back with new meaning, with a stronger drive, deeper convictions. When I read the title of the article, I observed that the name, “What about Bible Smuggling?” had nothing to do with the thought pattern in my mind. Did I miss something? Was I on the wrong track? I was thinking of Hannah who through her travails, perseverance and seeking, brought forth Samuel. I was meditating upon David who walked in obedience to God. He continued enquiring of the lord and became a chaser of God’s heart. Then there was Daniel, Joseph, and many other people of old, who were in situations where they had to make a stand for righteousness. And what if they didn’t do the honorable thing?

It is so important for us to know what God is saying, but it is equally important to step out and do it His Way no matter what pressure is around. Future generations are waiting upon us to fulfill our purpose, they are depending on us to establish a firm peg so they can climb on. We don’t want them to be wondering, “What if the generation before us did the right thing?” instead we long for them to say, “Thanks to our fore-fathers, we have a strong heritage to launch off of.

In Times of old, Jacob refused to let go of God because - in my terms, - he knew he couldn’t handle a break up. The separation would do far more damage than if he simple held on. Too often we quickly let go because the pressure intensify. To all those reading, I encourage you with this, holding on to God will prove more beneficial and rewarding in the longer run. Remember that God is God. That statement in itself says so much. And He will never allow anything to come our way if he knows we can’t handle it. And moreover, he always has a way of escape. I strongly believe that the way of escape is not removing the problem but rather its maturity. He desires that we mature, learn to rise above the situation, and learn to make righteous destiny decision that will stop us from living a “What if” life.

Think its Frustration?

Frustrated, why you may ask
Well just look at the obvious facts
Inconsistency, negligence being dragged around by my pants
God, this is not what I view life to be, maybe I should face the facts

I’ll never move forward until I wake up
Get truth in and stop wearing make up
Stop dreaming and start being
All that He’s called me to be and do
Get in order and move out of the zoo

I’ve always heard, “if your work hard you get it.”
But reality check, that’s no good if it’s just say it
You have to really get up and do it
Yeah that means work, energy DOING SOMETHING
If this seems hard, then men! You’re just too lazy.

Yeah maybe for a while there I sounded confused
Lost and or perhaps, needed the Good News
But guess what, everyone’s got to blow some steam
And this is my way without getting mean
So to clear things up for you, here’s the truth…..

God is doing his work in me
Changing my gloom and giving me glee
Re-structuring my mind, updating my operating system
Overhauling my engine and changing my pistons
So the process seems long and hard
But it’s better than sitting around being a fraud
Ineffective and irrelevant to this new era
So if your wondering what’s Up!!!!

It Boils Down to Love

I saw it clearly. Jesus was hanging on the cross with all the sins of mankind desperately clinging on to him. Each sin anxiously tried to secure a place on this man – whom at that point, single handedly created a magnetic field that had all the factors needed to host sins of every nature. - He was properly enclosed making it virtually difficult for me to get an accurate visual of his frame. There was so much sin that some decided to hang off others in the front. They dragged his body down adding more and more weight to his now exhausted muscles. But yet he persevered. He knew that this was a part of what he came to do; this was apart of the blue print God had originally shown him. Finally, after hours of enduring, the straw designed to break even a camel’s back, found its way to Jesus. The one person He had committed Himself to, the one person who had been by His side all his life could not longer look upon him because of the sins of Man. Even if the Father wanted to look on his son, he would not be able to see Him; the sin was too gruesome to gaze at. He was Holy and could not tolerate such impurity; not even from his own son. So he had to turn away. At that moment I could see the despair of Jesus as He realized, for the first time in His entire life, He was alone. I could only imagine what he was possibly thinking. “Why have you forsaken me? What will I do now without your presence, without your direction? I need you to speak to me, tell me how to respond.” Then suddenly Jesus’ mind brought up data that was in his archived files. “My God, I know why I am here. All this is apart of my purpose. All this is to show my children how to rightly deal with rejection; this is to link them back to you. Father I will not loose focus of your purpose and destiny for my life, even if I can’t sense your presence. I will hold on to all the words you have told me in the past until the time comes again when we can talk. I will follow through on this section of the blue print you gave to me. And I will trust you to reveal the other pieces as I obey you. Lord I commit my spirit to you.” With that I saw him die.

As I pondered on what I saw, I wondered what would make a man endure such pain, abuse and the ultimate loneliness. What was motivating Him to go on even when the closest person to him could no longer support him? LOVE! Its got to be love. “Greater love has no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Without love, we will crumble when the test of life come. Our love must be first directed to God and then to those God has placed us amongst. In John 15, Jesus speaks of remaining in His love. It is clear that the only way we can do that is to obey his commandments. From the beginning of time, God continually urge the children of Israel to be careful to do all that He commands. God is calling us to love through obedience. That is the only way we will be able to go on when all else fail. Our love for him should be our motivation to persevere. DO YOU REALLY LOVE HIM?

Intro

Hey Guys, How are you all doing? I know that it’s has been a while since I’ve really sat down and wrote even a “Hi” to everyone. I apologize for my poor communication skills. It’s an area of my life that I need to develop more. God has and is continuing to bring me out of dis-functionalism and into divine order as I submit to His ways, values and plans for my life. I’ve gotten a tremendous breakthrough about two weeks ago. I was identifying areas of my life that were holding me back from moving forward into my destiny. I entered a period of fasting because I become really frustrated with this flaw in my life. God revealed to me that the problem was a generation bondage that was pasted down from my parents, more specific my dad. -“I love my parents and they have done the best with what they had, and for that I’m grateful. But for the sake of the kingdom of God and my future family, I must go further than they went, not in prideful way.-” I felt impressed by the Holy Spirit to share with my dad what I was struggling with and have him pray over me and break it off. Well to make a long story short, my dad prayed for me and also released me into manhood. And I’m not joking; I literally felt a shift in my heart. There was a strength in my heart to resist & overcome this flaw in my character. God is awesome! I’m sharing this just to let you all know of what God is doing in my life but also to emphasize the fact that generation bondage is real and Belize (this world) is filled with people who are held bound by bondages of the past, family, culture etc. Jesus wants to free us and he will as we allow him to first identfy those areas. "We shall know the truth and the truth will set us free."

JJboyz (Jubilee Junior Boyz)

I’m working with Jjboyz - along with 3 other leaders – teaching and laying my life down to see God raise up a different breed of men who walk in consistency, stability, character and integrity. God is doing great thing with Jjboyz. We have seen tremendous growth in the lives of these boyz and were praying and working towards greater levels of breakthroughs. One of the boyz who is really close to me, Charles, is going through a hard time. Please pray for him. We can’t afford to lose such a quality young man. Also pray that God will give us strategy in working with him.

Jubilee Worship Team

A simple but neglected truth that has now been the centre of my worship life is, “Worship is all about God” not about the music, the people, but unto God. As I submit myself to this truth, I’ve come into greater freedom in leading out in worship. God has been giving me and I trust my Jubilee Family, great breakthroughs during the worship times and in our daily life of worship. God has been drawing us to himself and longing for an intimate love relationship with Himself. Yes, this is something we’ve been hearing for a while, but my challenge is, let’s stop saying it, hearing it, but rather, let’s go there, let’s do it.

Destiny House Life Group

I was reminded tonight of how God has really blessed us with an awesome youth group. I’m one of the assistant life group leaders and along with the other leaders, we’re contending for the youths of this nation. It is God’s desire that evangelism and discipleship multiply in our nation and I believe that God has and is preparing us for the harvest that is coming in.

Legacy Youth Ministries

Along with serving in worship at Jubilee Ministries, I’m the worship leader for “Legacy Youth Ministries.” This new ministry comprises of several youth leaders & youths from around the country, who has seen the need to network together and target the young people of this generation with principles, values and tools that will enable them to walk out their relationship with God in CONSITENCY & STABILITY. This summer Legacy will be having its first youth conference at YWAM and we are believing God for major breakthroughs, growth, impartation, and overall casting of purpose and vision to this generation of youths. Following the youth conference, Legacy will take a youth outreach to Montigo Bay, Jamaica. I will be embarking on this outreach which will lift off in July.

Quick Exhortaion

Like I’ve said earlier, God has brought tremendous freedom in my life. I’ve been giving myself to the gospel just looking closely at the life of Jesus and also Peter. But here are some nuggets of truth that I have gotten from this season; “Stronghold are only as strong as we strengthen them.” “Faith by majority vote is never a safe path for the child of God.” “Fear comes from not seeing who stands beside you. Whenever I doubt, when fear kicks in, when I allow my past to define my future and feel the stress and anxiety it brings, whenever we are sinking, it means we are not seeing our lord correctly. We’ve lost site of the Master.” What can you do? Well, repent and call on the name of Jesus our savior; Refocus on Him.

Areas of need

Guys, this does not come easy to me, but laying all pride aside, I must express that there are some areas of need in my life and I’m just informing you guys of those areas. Firstly, Discipleship Training School is coming up in September. For those who do not know what DTS is, it is a 6 months course offered by “Youth With A Mission.” The mission statement of YWAM says tons about the school, "To Know God and make him Known." The course is designed in a way where there is a period of teaching followed by an outreach (application time) this year the potential outreach location is Senegal Africa. The entire course comes up to $6,700 Bze which will cover resources (books), lodging, food, transportation, & outreach. I’ve already saved up $1,700 Bze towards this grand total.

Like I mentioned earlier, the Legacy Youth Ministries’ outreach is coming up in July. The estimate cost of this outreach is $ 1,600.00 Bze which will cover plain ticket, lodging, food, & transportation. I agree! This is a lot of money, but one thing I’ve learnt is; don’t go cheap on your foundation, do it proper from the start. In the fear of the lord, I see all these pursuits as part of the 'foundation laying' in my life for the bigger things God wants to build in and through me for His kingdom and my future family.

Intro

I’ve put together this newsletter so that you – my friends and family; those who have supported and prayed for me throughout my life – can have a feel on where I am coming from, see some on where I am at presently but also, tap into where I am heading.

Where I’m Coming From

I’ve spend most of my younger years in Dangriga. I am the second of six sibling brought into this world by Mervin & Juanita Budram Sr. From a young age I was introduce to God and the things of God especially because both my parents are Christian. I fellowship at Faith Assembly Of God Church where I was involved in worship, teaching, and assisting musically at the school. Around my later teenage years (17-19) I went through a dark period of my life. During this period of rebellion, I made a lot of really foolish decisions that hurt many close friends and also hurt my pastor at that time. I relocated from Dangriga to Belmopan with a lot of question that needed answers.

After wondering around a couple months, I made a choice to plug into Jubilee Ministries. That was the first good choice I had made in a while. I submitted myself to Scott Stirm – senior leader at Jubilee. – Scott was not easy on me as we processed my wrong choices. I went through a period of deep heart repentance. Breakthrough was taking place in my life. I recall a Friday night of weeping as the lord was freeing me up and ushering me into manhood and destiny.

In April of 2003, I broke my ankle, heel, and in-step from falling or rather chasing a ball off a cliff. This accident ushered me into one of the most changing period of my life as I was privilege to move into Scott’s home. I lived with his family for approximately five months and during those months, I experience the greatest breakthroughs in my relationship with god. And it was simply because I was seeing the Word lived out in a real practical way. Truth, vision, purpose and most importantly family was written on my heart. As I often tell Scott, while at his house, I was like a parasite – sucking every bit of knowledge, values, truth, and principles that I could get in that time. – I’ve looked back and I can see tremendous growth and maturity over the past year. My life’s direction has changed from one of mediocrity and inaccuracy to one of discipline, destiny, excellence, accuracy and relevance. These are the main teams in my life at the moment

Where I’m At

Presently I’m working at Shamax Productions as the sound engineer, graphic designer and basically the all around guy. I’ve been with Shamax for About a year and a half and it has been a tremendous honor working under Louis Wade Jr. I’m also working closely with Jubilee Ministries. I’m apart of a leadership team of 3 men – Mr. Brian Burgess, Mr. Kerm Timbrel, and myself – who are working along with Jjboyz (Jubilee Junior Boyz). Our heart is to help nurture and raise up a different breed of Responsible, Discipline, Godly Men in the nation of Belize. God has shown me the value He places on kids and I’m privilege that he counts me worthy to be apart of those covering these boys. I help with the worship team and I’m also an assistant Youth leader in training. I am learning more and more how to be a son of the kingdom. God has shown me glimpse of what he has in store for me and presently, I’m in foundation building mode.

Where I’m Heading

I believe that God has place the mandate of taking the Gospel firstly to our home then to the ends of the earth; preparing those for the glorious coming of our lord. I’ve dedicated my life to this truth and the call of missions whether through the work field, family or the privilege of going to another nation see others get saved, disciple and equip to bring others into the kingdom. My heart is the see the kingdom of God advance and enlarge and also to see the church rise up with Truth and become a relevant, accurate voice in this land.

I’m pursuing a career in media and communications. Again, working with Shamax introduced to me to numerous skills I’ve grown to love. What I’m seeing in the whole area of missions and ministry is bringing the Gospel to the nations in ways they can relate. It is reaching out to this generation with the mediums that are present; Television, print. It is taking the life of the gospel to the people in their own language. I see this being done by ministering in music, reaching out in television, print and what ever means the media provides; But mostly through my life and my family.

In preparation to live a lifestyle of missions and ministry, I’ve decided to take a DTS (Discipleship training school) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). This DTS is schedule to start in September. I am seeing this time as foundation building and strengthening time, where more character formation can take place and where I get a taste of what missions is all about and experience it first hand. The tentative outreach location is Africa and I’m really looking forward to that time. After DTS, I’m planning to pursue training in the whole area of Mass Media and communications at Texas State Technical College in
